About Honey

Honey Bear posted February 2023

Honey is 40+ years old and treasured for all that time. He was a Christmas present, purchased in Aberdeen, Scotland, and brought to the Highlands to be loved by a young me.

He started travelling on a family camping holiday in France where he first experienced heat. He returned to Aberdeen for teacher training college and when I started further travels with my teaching, Honey came with me.

He spent a few years in Cairo, Egypt before settling in Perth, Western Australia. He was five years in Brunei Darussalam on the island of Borneo and then in various locations back in WA - metro, country and remote. He returned to the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, for another 5 years, experiencing lockdowns during COVID. And now, Australia calls us again but this time for a very different lifestyle.

Previously, Honey was more like a decoration, a cushion, and a warm reminder of growing up. Along the way, I married. This time, Honey will be the star of the show as we three become nomads with a caravan and a car.

Why? Well, events, circumstances and metaphoric brick walls enticed the decision to start a new chapter, an exciting chapter, return to warmth and sun, and what we love most - travel. And the early years teacher in me is charmed by Honey as a character to share our journeys.

Join us, specifically Honey Bear Touring, as we explore this big red island, the land down under and the place we like to call home - Australia!
